EL SEGUNDO, California, Oct 2, 2024 — Space Force awarded Picogrid the first delivery order from its Rapid, Resilient Command and Control (R2C2) program, aimed at enhancing command and control infrastructure for satellite systems.
R2C2, a joint initiative with Space Systems Command, is building a cloud-based satellite operations infrastructure to provide military operators with increased flexibility in commanding and repositioning satellites in response to emerging threats.
The program will deliver essential tactical ground segment software to support U.S. Space Force satellites on protect-and-defend missions. Key SatOps capabilities will include Rendezvous and Proximity Operations planning, antenna brokering, telemetry, tracking, and command.
R2C2 integrates machine-to-machine communication with the broader operational battle management system, aligning with the larger Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management architecture.
Picogrid is one of 20 companies selected to participate in this $1 billion program, part of Space Force's broader effort to modernize its foundational infrastructure. As a defense technology company, Picogrid specializes in building unified platforms for autonomous systems, connecting unmanned systems across vendors and domains.
Picogrid’s commercially available Legion platform is positioned to support the R2C2 program by enabling data interoperability across distributed satellite operations. Legion also creates a common operating environment that links previously isolated command and control systems.
