LAWTON, Oklahoma, Aug 28, 2024 — Picogrid, a FISTA Innovation Park tenant, helped Cameron University secure $100,000 in funding for joint research focused on fielding affordable unmanned systems in Department of Defense operations.
This funding is part of the ongoing collaboration between Picogrid and Cameron University, facilitated through the Small Business Technology Transfer program.
The research is aimed at helping the Department of Defense adopt strategies for deploying affordable unmanned systems on a large scale, a critical factor in deterring potential conflicts with near-peer competitors.
“The funding represents just one step in a larger, ongoing partnership aimed at building the next generation of defense technology and setting up the manufacturing to keep America competitive,” said Martin Slosarik, Picogrid's Co-Founder.
Picogrid’s partnership with Cameron University is part of Picogrid’s broader expansion in Oklahoma. After announcing a signed lease in 2024 at FISTA Innovation Park, Picogrid’s new manufacturing facility is already undergoing construction, contributing to the region's growth as a hub for defense technology.
This partnership brings together the expertise of Picogrid and two fast-growing unmanned system manufacturers, Neros Technologies and OneKappa.
At the core of this initiative is Picogrid Legion, a unified platform for unmanned systems. Legion aggregates data from various unmanned aerial, ground and surface vehicles, enabling large-scale tasking and control. The platform is designed to be compatible with a variety of vendors in the maritime, land, air, and space domains.
