In this role, you will help build the systems that will power the next generation of defense technology. The big engineering effort ahead of us is to build a system that's able to ingest, process, store, and serve data from millions of legacy and future defense systems in real time. This will require us to elegantly support billions of permutations of sensor hardware, alternative data sources, analytics/AI tools, and human-machine interfaces, all with a developer-first focus and military-grade reliability/security.
About the opportunity
Picogrid is looking for a seasoned engineering leader experienced in integrated hardware-software systems who is passionate about advancing the state of the art in defense technology. As a foundational member of Picogrid's engineering team, you will work directly with our founders to define our technical strategy, drive our product roadmap, and improve engineering practices. You will help us build our engineering organization from the ground up and establish a culture of excellence and your high expectations and energy will inspire everyone you work with.
What you'll do
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of hardware and software engineers
- Provide technical guidance on system architecture, performance, scalability, security, etc.
- Develop systems and processes to scale the performance of our engineering organization
- Facilitate collaboration between adjacent teams in product, design, machine learning, sales, etc.
Some types of experiences we're especially excited to see:
- 5+ years leading engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience building products that touch both hardware and software (e.g. autonomous cars, robotics, unmanned systems, etc.)
- Experience (or interest in) building climate tech, defense tech, or related fields
- Experience building high-volume data pipelines
- Open-source contributions or other projects
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
